Been missing my blog

Gosh it's been awhile since I've posted. I've been sick for a little bit and spent 4 days last week. I am on the mend and getting better. Can't wait to share some Christmas projects I've been working on. Hopefully I'll get them posted this week. I'm in the Gibbs 12 Days of Christmas swap from the Cricut message board. I'll have to tell my partner not to peak. LOL

Halloween Advent Calendar

This was a halloween advent calendar from Target. I covered the little boxes with vintage halloween paper. I used my crop a dial to punch a hole in the center and added a stampin up jumbo eyelet and looped ribbon for a drawer pull. I'm going to fill the boxes with candy and give it to my swap partner. My partner promised not to peek.

Stamp Camp Cards

Last night I went to Stamp Camp and made 5 different cards. We make 2 of each style for a total of 10 cards. I have so much fun going to Stamp Camp at Joanne's house. Joanne sells Stampin Up, each month she has Stamp Camp at her house.

Family Applique Quilt

This is a very special quilt for me. I made it for my mother for Mother's Day 2000. This is the first quilt I finished. The pictures are all family photos. One of my favorite pictures with my late sister is in the quilt. The large picture is my grandmother. There is another picture at her 100th birthday party. My grandmother lived to be 103. My mom has it hanging in her bedroom. I decided to have it machine quilted so it would be completed on Mother's Day that year. The quilter followed the pattern in the fabric so the back round looks like wallpaper. I did all piecing and hand applique on the quilt. I ironed muslin fabric on freezer paper, cut is down to 8 1/2 x 11 and copied the pictures onto the fabric. Worked really well.

Welcome sign in entry way

The welcome sign was made with black cricut vinyl with my Expression machine and George cartridge. I've had it up on the wall for several months now and getting ready to change it. So I thought it would be nice to take a before picture. Still planning what I'm going to put up next. This is the entry way to my house, the peg board houses my keys, dogs leashes, and purse. There is a rustic bench under the peg board.

New Etsy Shop, Hip and Humble Craft

I am so excited to announce I have opened an Etsy shop. Starting out slow but hope to add more to my shop with a week. Right now I have a Martini glass candy dish and button bracelet posted for sale. You can access the shop by clicking the link at the top right of my blog.

Big leap of faith, hope it's a success!

Apple Picking

My next door neighbor asked if she could pick some apples. I told her I didn't think they were good. The dogs use them for edible toys, play ball and eat them. Jessica and her friends asked if they could pick apples. I said yes of course. Jessica said the apples are very good and she has been using them all season. I'm really glad they are being used. I had no idea they were good. Jessica also brought over baked goods she made with the apples. Everything was so yummy.

Halloween Witches Shoe

Here is a shoe I made from a template from a Craft Magazine. I took the template to Office Max to enlarge it. It was a fun project to make. I'm going to wrap the shoe in cello and put a big orange bow on it. It will be my mom's Halloween gift.

I also made a cute Halloween ornament from 2 wooden spools, wire, and beads. I'm going to use it for a Ceiling Fan chain pull. I love decorating for Halloween. I think almost as much as Christmas. The ornament is hanging from the shoe in the first photo.

I have 4 different cartridges for the winner to select from.

Christmas Angel Ornament

I've been wanting to make an angel I saw in "Pretty Little Things" by Julie Collings for a long time. I finally took the time to make one last night. Working with wool fiber is very easy and forgiving. The hardest thing was making the micro mini paper chain. I also made a Christmas planner to track gifts, cards, decorations and meal planning. The planner was made with small paper bags and tags.

Summer purse

I made this summer bag out of home dec fabric. I thought the embroidery design was so cute. This was a very quick project that took about 2 hours. There is wide black ribbon in the center of the bag to tie it closed.

Machine Embroidery Coin Purse

This was my first "In the Hoop" project with my embroidery machine. I think it turned out cute. It kind of looks like a Vera Bradley coin purse.

Funky Dog

I made this dog for my cousins son. It was so much fun making it, a friend and I had to work together to decipher the directions. LOL Sewing directions and I don't get along very well. It's hard for me to figure them out sometimes.

Needlepoint Picture Frame

I used to needlepoint all the time and got away from it. Here are 2 projects I made, the first one is a picture frame and the second is a sewing needle case.

1930's Quilt

I have been working on a hand applique quilt for 5 years. When Provo Craft released Preserves Cart I knew I had to have it. The quilt has fruit in the center of each block. So my plan is to cut the fruit with my cricut and heat set it on the quilt. I'm hoping it won't take another 5 years. LOL I know it won't, it will go fast using the cricut method.

Completed Frame Display Board

I was getting nervous about making this display board because the wire I first picked out didn't work. I went back to Joanne's and bought 20 gauge wire and that worked like a charm.

Frame

The new Stampin Up catalog is my inspiration for my latest project. There is a frame on page 98 that I love. It seemed pretty simple but the wire is anything but simple to attach to the frame. Here are a couple of pictures after I sprayed primer on the frame.

Album for Vintage Album Swap

I decided to repost the album I made for Becca's Vintage album swap. There are pages that I forgot to post. I had so much fun making this album for Michelle, my swap partner. She received my album on Friday and said she loved it. I'm so glad!

Vintage Album Swap

I just received my album from my partner, Michele. The album is just amazing, I am so happy with it. Michele used one of my favorite cartridges, Forever Young for some of the cuts. My album to Michele went postal today. I am so happy to have it in the mail to her. It feels really good to complete a swap and have it in the mail on time.
