Wool Flet Flowers

Hi everyone,
Hope you all are enjoying your weekend. I just experimented with wool felt and made some flowers. My new addiction is pintrest. I found a flower tutorial on the Pintrest site for these flowers. So simple and easy to make. They literally take 2 minutes to make. Hope you like them.

Vintage Wallhanging

Hi everyone,
Yesterday I had a great day crafting and experimenting. I made this wallhanging out of chipboard and vintage sheet music, flowers, glitter and bazzill swiss dot paper. I used the cricut to cut out the pieces. Elegant Edges for the base and George for the oval shape. Used crape paper for the ruffle under the oval. Silver leafing pen for the edge around the base shape. Used white gold glitter around the oval. Didn't have flowers so off to Michaels I went. Found the flower stem for 89 cents. I also found a canvas journal for a penny. You gotta love Michaels and their penny merchandise.

I've been playing today and will post pictures of what I've been doing.

Canvas tag project

I just finished this project and wanted to share it. I love Somerset books and this idea came from the current Workshop magazine. I loved playing with all the different colors and inks. After having my reinders for several years I got to use them. LOL I used ink to col0r the canvas and Glimmer Mist on the tags with stencils. I gessoed the tags and canvas before I started. That gave the them some texture. Although I hate my handwriting I did write my favorite quotes on the tags. LOL The birds are covered with french text from an old book.

My tag project

I was in such a hurry to post the tag project I forgot some information. My inspiration came from Dina Wakley. Dina has an article in the current Somerset Workshop magazine. Somerset magazines are my most favorite to read. I find more inspiration for projects to try in them.

I also just received my new copy of Delight in the Seasons from Lisa M Pace. I just love her work. Her first book was Delight in the Details. It covers over 40 different techniques. The style is vintage/shabby chic which I love.

It's so much fun experimenting and trying new techniques. Try something new today!!

Happy New Year!

Hello,
Hope everyone has a wonderful New Year. Wishing you much success and happiness.

2011 was a very trying year for me medically. I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjogrens Disease. I've dealt with chronic pain from my neck being fused from C2-T3. Over the last 9 years I had 6 cervical spine surgeries. I have 3 bulging discs in my lumbar spine. Along with that came depression that was very difficult to manage. I have been on long term medical disability since January 2008. I think the pain feeds the depression.

I have met some awesome friends through crafting. I love crafting on Skype with my out of town friends.

Crafting is the one thing that keeps me going. I long the challenge of trying new techniques. I love vintage and shabby chic the best. Tim Holtz is a close third. LOL

A couple of weeks ago I went to the Upcycle Exchange. The owner and I talked about her new consignment department. I took some of the books I've made to get some feedback. She likes them so much she agreed to let me consign them in her store. Needless to say I'm very excited. I was over the top to have someone think my work was professional enough to sell. My friend Dianna got me started on making books. I love making books now. I can spend hours looking at You Tube videos. Watching You Tube videos is addictive. LOL

I've had an Etsy store for a long time. Haven't done much with it until now. I'm going to be posting a book I made today. The Etsy link on my blog will take you to my store. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. I think I've found my niche with making books.

Thanks so much.
Laurie

Experiment with wool felt

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I've been back to my crafty self. LOL I went to the Upcycle Exchange in St Louis last week. I found some cool old books, a scrabble board, embroidery floss, and glycerin soap.

I took wool and wrapped it around the soap and felted it on the soap. It is so cool. The wool acts as a loofa sponge. As the soap shrinks the wool gets smaller too.
